Training Courses

PRA are pleased to announce the beginning of a series of new training courses specifically targeted at adults who are experiencing or recovering from mental illness. These courses are all accredited by NCFE, and will offer participants the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised Level 1 Award. This can be used as a stepping stone to gaining a Diploma and access to higher education.

Our tutors have long experience of teaching from beginners all the way up to post-graduate degree level. In addition, PRA brings over 50 years experience of providing training and encouragement for adults with mental illness to achieve greater independence, self-expression, learning and employment.

Initially we are providing courses in ceramics and 3-D Art. This will be followed shortly with courses in jewellery-making, painting and drawing, and photography.

The courses require 60 guided learning hours in order to pass, PRA is providing 60 hours teaching, however extra support and flexibility are provided to ensure participants are able to successfully complete their studies. Classes will last for approximately 2 hours and will run weekly over 30 weeks in three blocks of 10 weeks. This will allow participants breaks, and sufficient time to complete their portfolios.

The total cost per person per course is £634.00. This includes all materials needed for the classes. A deposit of 10% is required to reserve a place, with the balance due by the end of the course.

Please contact our Services Coordinator, Simon Behrman for further information or to book a place.
